Today I am grateful for my side hustle! Not because of any amount of money I’ve earned, a rank I’ve achieved, any trip I’ve been on. It’s because of the tribe of people I get to surround myself with.
Right now, I am supposed to be in taper mode and preparing for the biggest race I’ve ever run. However, I believe God had different plans for me. A few weeks ago, I injured my knee, which slowed down my training which then led to me having to make the tough decision to back out of the race altogether to allow my knee to heal. I had already put the toughest part of the training in, the hundreds of miles to run that one race.
This race also takes place on my dad’s birthday, whom I lost 29 years ago, one month before his 50th birthday. This would have been my first 50-mile race, which I was running in honor of him. He was always my biggest cheerleader and used to tell me I could do anything I wanted to in life (And I believed him).
Ironically, I threw out an idea to my Health and Wellness team for the month of June of having an accountability group to help grow our businesses. 18 people said that this was something they wanted. I check in every day and give them tips, tricks, ideas, something to focus on for that day.
We talk about mindset, self-development, limiting beliefs, the peaks, and valleys of business, and how to grow through them. I am thoroughly enjoying pouring into them each and every morning!
What I didn’t know was how much I would need this amazing group of leaders in this moment. They have no idea how by them saying yes to showing up for themselves for 30 days and allowing me to pour my heart and soul into them would heal a small piece of my heart that was broken.
It has given me a place to focus all my time and energy. I am also being more intentional about filling my own cup, so I have more to pour back into them. I have learned so much throughout the course of training for this one race. The entire time I felt as though God was refining me. A couple of my close friends know some of the things I’ve had to work through during this season. What I am learning right now is to Embrace the Detours! Sometimes the unexpected turns in life lead to the greatest blessings.
